28 weeks baby bump in my 1st handmade maternity shirt

finally…my first handmade maternity shirt!

i bought 3 meters of this flowery printed cotton fabric (premiere by hokkoh) long time ago for only 480 JPY/meter. it’s soft and light, perfect for summer. for this shirt i only used about 2 meters of it because i made mistakes in altering pattern and cutting. this shirt should’ve been longer 😦
but it’s ok, at least my first attempt on making a shirt with a collar was a big success. i never have a courage to make clothes with a shirt collar before, most of my projects were collarless.  surprisingly, making the collar part was not as difficult as i thought, it was just easy peasy 🙂

although this shirt is supposed to be worn on summer, the pattern actually was taken  from this autumn/winter clothes sewing pattern book.

i made  some alterations in front part.  i cut the front part under the bust and made 3 pleats on each side of the lower part to accomodate my bump. i also add 3 rows of elastic on the back to fit and give some shape.

this is my 28 weeks baby bump ^^
